Dear all,
I know it has been some times since I have updated my web site and give you some news.. Time is just going way to fast.. But here I am, with a new serie of drawing.
For those who are wondering, yes I am still painting and yes I am still fully active. A lot is actually happening in my life and I have not been able to get to the web site.
First of all, I have been accepted to Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design where I will be doing my Bachelor of Fine Art, major in Painting. I am starting in September and will be studying part time. For the first two semester I will be only doing my English writing classes but has time will go by, the painting classes will start. So watch my style evolved over the next few years.. I am very excited about learning new technique and refining my brush strokes.
Secondly, I have just graduated from Prana Yoga College and I am now a Certified Yoga Teacher. So this should also influence my painting over the years.
And finally, I have been working over the winter and summer on a serie of Ink on paper drawing. These drawing are purely abstract. In 1998-1999 and 2000 I had created a first series and since I sold out few months ago, I decided that it was time for me to create some new ones. There is about 3 main types that you will recognized.
1- Purely abstract. I normally start with 2-3 main lines and evolve from there. The result is unpredictable and I am often surprised myself to see the end result.
2- One night while at my desk, I was contemplating the beautiful orchid that I had received for my birthday. I like the very define colours in the middle, the contrast of the sharp branch versus the softness of the petals. Then I started to look at the energy that was coming out of it and my eye fell down to it's shadow that was projected to my blank sheet. So this is how I started few of the drawings, by tracing the orchid shadow line projected on my blank sheet.
3- While walking around Pender Island, I created a series of very fast and simplest sketches of some of the view that I then filled in later with more details.
All types have very different start but are complete in similar fashion. They are all abstract in some ways and you will find a lot of different creature hiding in each of them. Birds, Rhinoceros, Zebras, cats, insects and more. If you leave your imagination guide you, you will be surprised on what you will find inside of these abstract. The name are only there to help identified each drawing and it was very hard to stop on a specific title since I can see so many different things in each of them.
Let me know if you like, what you are finding and what is your story behind your favorite ones.
I will upload them all under the 2010 section of the web site in the next few days.
Stay tuned and enjoy the rest of the summer.
Marion
