www.marionlandry.com

As I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and took a different direction with my painting style, I have created a new website. In 2015, I took a turned and focused my attention on more geometrical style work. This new direction came as a result to deeper analysis and further development of my interests as a painter. For latest news and new series of painting please visit my new website www.marionlandry.com

so to recap:

  • www.marionlandryart.com shows paintings from 2006 to 2018 (February) I will keep this site current to reflect which paintings are still for sale but will not be uploading work after 2018.
  • www.marionlandry.com represent work from 2015 to present.

To get in touch with me, my email is the same marion@marionlandryart.com

Artist Statement (starting 2015)

Landry’s art practice focuses on oil paintings that explore the concept of perception. She is interested in how, through the manipulation of geometrical grid patterns, surface, color, and light, a picture can perform a ‘mapping’ of reality. Often linked to the methodical geometric abstraction of the historical Op Art movement, her work addresses the contemporary concerns that see within optical effects more complex issues. The illusions of space studied in her pictures draw parallels with the subjectivity of one’s own perception. Who is right, what is truth, and how the facts are individually interpreted based on one’s personal knowledge is what impairs and fascinates her. The artist interprets perception as a reality that is partly veiled or obstructed, and one in which facts are filtered and distorted. To her, each individual has his or her own grid pattern in which thoughts, manners, and expectations are compartmentalize as a way to cope with their personal reality.
